Description of the defect and cause

In the inflator for passenger seat air bag, due to inappropriate molding process and/or handling to prevent moisture absorption of the inflator after molding, the propellant with insufficient density may be installed. Therefore, the inner pressure of the inflator may abnormally rise at the time of air bag deployment, and it may potentially cause a rupture and flying apart of inflator case, or result in catching fire and injure the passenger.

Remedy to correct the defect

Mazda dealers replace the passenger side air bag inflator with modified parts.
